Innovative Treatment Solutions grew from the personal experience, professional expertise, and combined constructive vision of Ronnie Sells and business partner, senior consultant, Rob Miller. A business operations leader in care management for more than 20 years, Ronnie has gained deep insight into residential and behavioral health treatment programs. He believes strongly in the power of technology to increase patient engagement, prevent relapse, and save lives.
As an operations executive, Ronnie has launched numerous effective strategic initiatives to help residential and behavioral health care facilities dramatically improve service quality, boost revenue, operational efficiency, and reputation. He is credited with turning around multiple underperforming organizations, all with his signature solution-oriented focus. Through an unfailing belief in successful outcomes based on delivering quality products and services, Ronnie brings these same principals to Innovative Treatment Solutions. His passion for seeking recovery from addiction and behavioral health disorders has catapulted ITS to success early in its inception.
Ronnie’s career path began with undergraduate coursework in industrial and organizational psychology at Southeast Missouri State University, and hospitality administration and management program completion at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He is also certified by the Missouri Credentialing Board as a medication assisted recovery specialist (MARS), certified peer specialist (CPS), and Missouri associate alcohol and drug counselor-II (MAADC).
Ronnie is a sought-after public speaker, invited to treatment centers to motivate and inspire people going through recovery. He is also a person in long-term recovery, celebrating more than 6 years.
Ronnie contributes his personal time in service to others in many ways. Serving numerous not-for-profit organizations, sponsoring others in recovery, and constantly keeping himself open to those who seek help from addiction.
Ronnie’s personal life and passions also include spending quality time with his two children, connecting with nature by hiking, and exploring new adventures whenever he can. He firmly believes in the principle that life does continue to improve after addiction.
Seven years ago, my son injured his back, and that quickly lead to an addiction to opiates. In spite of great effort from my son, including multiple trips to excellent (and some not so excellent) rehab facilities and sober living homes, he repeatedly relapsed. For several years, he rode the yo-yo; getting sober, then relapsing after 35 days, getting sober then relapsing after 25 days, then getting sober and relapsing after 50 days, over and over again. He was stellar in rehab, but short-term recovery was a bitch.
My wife and I kept trying to save him from hitting rock-bottom, but nothing changed until he hit his rock-bottom. Once he made his decision to move to recovery, he found great support from the knowledge that he’d gained in rehab, and the support from peer support specialists and coaches in sober living and other aftercare. I am deeply grateful to God and the recovery support folks for my son’s 4 years of long-term recovery. He is living life to his fullest in sobriety.
During the three years of my son’s active addiction, I was clueless. I was worse than clueless; I was a classic enabler. Experience is a tough teacher, and I learned. I learned about choice, active engagement in recovery, peer support and empowerment. Choice was the challenge for me. The choices needed to belong to my son. He needed to be empowered in his own recovery. These are the key elements of after-care. I just needed to be an encourager from the sidelines.
Seeing that recovery is achievable, I have had a thirst for knowledge about the recovery process. I’ve taken peer support specialist certification courses. I fully believe in the power of peer support and the peer support approach. People need to be guided and supported, and not judged and directed, as they work their own recovery. My passion for this recovery approach and other life experiences have lead me to become part of an amazing start-up company that supports coaches and peer support specialists, Innovative Treatment Solutions.
